Help 180 young mothers build stronger futures

Help us complete a KES 3 million investment in young mothers and their children in Homa Bay County.

KES 780,000to raise by 31 December 2026

For a young mother living on an island in Lake Victoria, building a secure future is not easy.

There is a child to care for. A livelihood to build. A family to support. And very little room for things to go wrong.

Across Mfangano, Rusinga and Kibwogi, young mothers are working to provide for their children while facing limited opportunities to earn and save, limited support networks, and the everyday pressures of raising a young family.

CARE+ is about changing what is possible.

This is CARE+

CARE+ (Integrated Family Resilience) is a CYAN Kenya initiative designed to support 180 young mothers and 250 children under six to build stronger, more resilient families.

3island communities: Mfangano, Rusinga and Kibwogi

Working alongside the mothers, we will:

Build economic resilience

Provide start-up support and practical financial skills to help mothers earn, save and strengthen their livelihoods.

Strengthen parenting

Equip mothers with positive parenting practices that support healthier development for young children.

Support wellbeing

Create space for psychosocial support, peer connection and encouragement.

Build lasting networks

Strengthen mothers' groups so that peer support and collective action can continue beyond the project.

A KES 3 million partnership. One final gap to close.

CARE+ is a KES 3 million investment in young mothers and their families. KCDF has committed KES 1.5 million. CYAN Kenya is contributing the other KES 1.5 million.

Every contribution counts

You do not need to fund the whole gap to make a difference. When people give what they can, individual contributions become a collective investment in young mothers, their children and stronger families.

Why your support matters

Supporting a young mother is an investment in a family.

When she has the opportunity to strengthen her livelihood, develop confidence as a parent, access psychosocial support and build a network around her, she is better positioned to provide for and nurture her child. Your contribution can help create that opportunity.

It can help a young mother move from simply trying to get through today to having greater confidence about tomorrow.

How to give

Choose the way that suits you. Every method supports the same goal: closing the KES 780,000 gap.
