OUR WORK

Our Thematic Areas of Work

CYAN Kenya works across six thematic areas to improve health, leadership, economic opportunities and wellbeing for adolescents and young people.

ASRHR

Adolescents and youths require utmost good health physically, mentally and socially in relation to their sexual development, relationships and reproductive health. We conduct reproductive health education, linkage to reproductive health services, social behavior change and advocacy to create enabling environments.

💰

Youth Economic Empowerment

We provide career development mentorship in schools, craft skills like matt making, sandals making, Business management, computer literacy training, Modern farming to adolescents, youth and families.

🎗

HIV Prevention

Homabay experiences high HIV/AIDS infection among adolescents and young people and this leaves many young people at risk of infection in the community. We innovate and implement ideas geared to prevent spread of HIV and adherence and retention ART care and treatment in the community.

⚖️

SGBV and Gender Norms

Community led actions combined with national and global advocacy and structural change can lead to accelerated work geared towards combating gender-based violence. We implement community led advocacy and social behavior change to reduce GBV and harmful social norms that hinder youths from accessing justice and services.

🏥

Youth-Friendly Services

We work with local government, NGOs and other partners to create youth-friendly healthcare and services in the rural and peri urban communities of Homabay. We conduct youth community mobile health clinics, community health mobile clinics and linkage to health services with our community health volunteers.

🏛️

Leadership, Accountability and Governance

Good governance is considered a core component of resilient health systems, and while governments are the primary drivers of governance, non-state actors – from practitioners to civil society – are critical in making sure that health systems achieve goals of improved health status, improved health system responsiveness and reduced financial risk to users.
